Pierce Brosnan, 72, shares the secret of his great hair

Pierce Brosnan owes his magnificent hairstyle to Irish luck.

At the premiere of his latest film, The Thursday Murder Club, on Thursday, August 14, the 72-year-old actor, who was born in County Louth, Ireland, offered his views about why he and other Irish men have such fantastic hair.

“It’s all in the hair, the old Celtic hair,” he told Page Six, adding that his father “had good hair.”

Brosnan then joked that Irish essentials like “potatoes,” “butter,” and even “the Guinness” help.

When asked how he looks to be aging so gracefully, the celebrity said, “I’m doing my best!”

Dylan, Brosnan’s 28-year-old son, seemed to have inherited his father’s superb hair genes, as he strolled the red carpet at Thursday’s premiere with fashionable hair that was somewhat longer than the Mamma Mia! actor’s. Dylan towered over Brosnan as they posed for photographs together.

In 2024, Brosnan hinted that he believes he has what it takes to portray James Bond once again. From 1995 to 2002, the actor starred as the famed British spy in four films in the franchise.

During an appearance on the Today show in April 2024, Brosnan stated that he feels he “could get away with” returning—”in a pinch.”

“Let’s see where this wind leads us. Let’s see what happens. When asked if he was interested in staging a Bond comeback, he said, “They know where to find me.” “Why not?”

He went on to say, “I mean, there are some amazing things you can accomplish with AI, so there you go. I’m perfectly satisfied with the way things are.”

While several names have been floated as potential candidates to take over the Bond role after Daniel Craig, Brosnan has already stated the one condition he believes the next actor to portray 007 must meet.

In a March interview with The Telegraph, Brosnan stated that the next Bond star will almost certainly be British.

Brosnan co-stars with Helen Mirren, Ben Kingsley, and Celia Imrie in his latest film, The Thursday Murder Club, directed by Christopher Columbus. The four portray inhabitants at a retirement home in the United Kingdom who become amateur detectives, solving cold-case murders for pleasure.

Earlier this year, Brosnan expressed to PEOPLE his eagerness to reunite with Columbus after their previous collaboration on Mrs. Doubtfire.

“[It’s] a film that I hold close to my heart,” he remarked of the 1993 family comedy. “So when Chris called and said he was creating a movie of The Thursday Murder Club, I was already halfway there. By the time I finished Richard Osman’s book, I was fully fascinated.
